Locations & Outlets Management
1. Pengenalan & Fungsi Lokasi
|---|---|---|
| Opening a Retail Storefront (STORE) | The enterprise opens a new retail boutique, shopping mall outlet, or fast-service food counter serving walk-in consumers. | Select Location Type STORE. This unlocks POS counter terminal registration, cashier shift management, and cash drawer integration. |
| Establishing a Central Logistics Hub (WAREHOUSE) | The company operates a central warehouse for bulk supplier goods receipt (GRN), container offloading, and inter-branch fulfillment. | Select Location Type WAREHOUSE. This isolates storage facilities from direct cashier walk-in sales while optimizing transfer logistics. |
| Rush-Hour Fast Checkout (Allow Negative Stock Mode) | In high-velocity convenience retail, physical goods arrive during peak shopping queues before receiving clerks complete digital GRN entry. | Enable the "Allow Negative Stock" toggle so cashiers can continue barcode scanning without register lockout, reconciling book stock afterward. |
| Designating Branch Default (Primary Location) | A branch operates multiple facilities (1 central warehouse and 2 retail shops) and requires a default receiving hub preselected on purchase orders. | Toggle "Primary Location" to Yes on the main facility. Only one primary location is permitted per parent branch. |
| Temporary Pop-Up Kiosk or Exhibition Booth | Setting up a temporary 2-week festival sales booth with dedicated tablet registers and segregated mobile stock. | Create a temporary STORE location under the regional branch to track standalone exhibition revenue and inventory balances. |

9. Operational Results & Downstream Effects
Locations serve as physical operating hubs for cashiers, stockrooms, and staff scopes. The following subsystems interact directly with locations:
| Related Subsystem | Operational Effect & Relationship |
|---|---|
| Point of Sale (POS) | POS cashier counters and shifts can only be registered under STORE locations. WAREHOUSE facilities cannot host retail cashier checkouts. |
| Warehouse Racks & Bins (Storages) | Every physical room, aisle, and bin belongs to a specific location, defining the physical boundary for inventory placement. |
| Inter-Facility Stock Transfers | Locations act as origin dispatch points and destination intake points for all inter-facility inventory movements. |
| B2B Sales Delivery Orders (DO) | Merchandise shipped to wholesale buyers is picked, packaged, and deducted directly from the designated originating warehouse location. |
10. Common Issues & Solutions
Common problems encountered when configuring and operating locations, along with actionable resolutions:
| Issue / Error Message | Underlying Cause | Recommended Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Location does not appear in POS counter creation or cashier shift opening | The location was created with Type WAREHOUSE (instead of STORE), or its status is set to Inactive. | Navigate to Locations, click Edit on the facility, and verify that Type is STORE and Status is set to Active. |
| Cashier checkout blocked by "Insufficient Stock" alert | Physical stock in the system is 0 and "Allow Negative Stock" is set to No. | Receive pending Goods Receipt (GRN) shipments first, or enable "Allow Negative Stock" on the store location if your business policy permits fast checkout during inventory arrival. |
| Failed to delete location when clicking the Delete button | The location contains child storage racks (storages) or historical inventory transaction records. | Delete empty storage bins first, or set location status to Inactive to retire the facility without compromising historical audit ledgers. |
| Validation error: "Branch is required" upon clicking Save | The parent Branch dropdown selector was left empty in Step 1 of the drawer. | Select the operational branch that owns this physical facility. |
Operational Best Practices
- Carefully classify locations: choose STORE for retail outlets and customer counters, and WAREHOUSE for logistics depots.
- For high-volume retail boutiques during holiday peak hours, enable Allow Negative Stock to prevent queue delays during delivery intake.
- Designate exactly one Primary Location per branch to streamline automated purchase order receiving defaults.
